[baTch 440] es un proyecto de composición automática desarrollado por el músico e informático Sergio Oramas, con ayuda de Enrique Vergara, músico e ingeniero de telecomunicaciones. Investiga la esencia compositiva a través de las reglas armónicas del clasicismo-romanticismo y la capacidad cognitiva del ordenador para utilizarlas en un contexto contemporáneo. Se trata de una instalación audio-visual interactiva donde un ordenador con un programa realizado en MAX/MSP se encarga de componer música de forma inteligente, creando progresiones armónicas y melodías. Dicho programa adelanta el cifrado armónico 8 compases antes de su interpretación, el cual es proyectado en una pantalla. Un número indeterminado de músicos puede interpretar música con diversos instrumentos junto con el ordenador siguiendo el cifrado indicado por este, realizando improvisaciones, creando texturas, etc. Esto es recogido junto con la interpretación del ordenador y es canalizado a través de una mesa de mezclas hacia otro ordenador, donde el audio es transformado en vídeo mediante otro programa realizado en MAX/MSP. Este programa utiliza la equivalencia entre el espectrograma del audio y el espectrograma RGB y proyecta el resultado en otra pantalla, creándose así un cuadro de la música interpretada en tiempo real.

This is an audio-visual interactive installation where a computer with a MAX / MSP program is responsible for composing music intelligently, creating chord progressions and melodies. [baTch 440] ist ein automatisches Kompositionsprojekt, entwickelt von dem Musiker und Informatiker Sergio Oramas zusammen mit dem Musiker und Elektrotechniker Enrique Vergara. Das Projekt untersucht die kompositorische Essenz, durch die harmonischen Regeln der klasssischen und romantischen Zeit, sowie die kognitiven Fähigkeiten des Computers für die Verwendung in einem zeitgenössischen Kontext. Es handelt sich um eine interaktive Video- Soundinstallation, in welcher sich ein Computer, mit einem in MAX/MSP programmierten Programm, auf eine intelligente Weise damit beschäftigt, Musik zu komponieren, wobei er harmonischen Progressionen und Melodien erzeugt.
Das Programm zeigt den Musikern die Noten 8 Takte bevor sie gespielt werden. Die live gespielten Noten werden dann auf eine Leinwand projiziert. Eine unbestimmte Zahl von Musikern mit verschiedenen Instrumenten können, unter anderem durch Improvisationen und Erstellung von Texturen, mit den von dem Computer erzeugten Noten Livemusik spielen, .
Die Gesamte von Musikern gespielte Musik wird, zusammen mit der Rechner Auslegung, durch ein Mischpult in einen anderen Computer übertragen, wo die Audiosignale mit der Hilfe eines anderen Programms in MAX / MSP in Videosignale umgewandelt werden.
Das Videoprogramm verwendet die Äquivalenz zwischen dem Audio-Spektrogramm und dem RGB-Spektrogramm und das Ergebnis wird auf einem anderen Bildschirm gezeigt. Somit wird ein Bild von der Musik in Echtzeit gezeigt.
